Song of the Day: Ghostface Freestyle on 16 Bars

Laying down a different vibe for the Song of the Day, we got Ghostface spitting a verse on one of, AOL Music 16 Bars Freestyle skits. If you are a fan of Ghostface or Raekwon, you will already know that this is not actually a freestyle, but it’s Ghostface dropping his verses from Wisdom Body, on top of the beat from Jay Z’s, Girls Girls Girls. It is not a freestyle, though sick none the less. The flow and rhymes that Ghostface lays down are hood, and full of grime, yet has so much class as he serenades the mic.

What is love? Love is giving your boy and partner in crime, his own track on your debut solo album. That is exactly what Raekwon did, giving Ghostface track 13 on his highly noted album, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx. The track is over two minutes of pure Ghostface serenading the mic with his rhymes on top of a Rza produced beat with no hook. The 16 Bars Freestyle version of Wisdom Body is more smooth sounding, as the lyrics Ghost drops, blended with the Girls Girls Girls beat.

Both Ghostface Killah and Raekwon are featured members of the legendary Hip Hop crew, the Wu Tang Clan, formed in 1992. With 12 studio albums under his belt, hes made quite the career for himself. Together with Raekwon, they share the same style of grimey Hip Hop with verses filled with innovative street slang. Some noteable tracks the duo have recorded include, Criminology (Only Built 4 Cuban Linx), Verbal Intercourse (Only Built 4 Cuban Linx), Motherless Child (Ironman), Can It Be All So Simple (Enter the 36 Chambers) and a personal favorite, Ice Cream (Only Built 4 Cuban Linx).

Favorite Line: “Aiyyo peep it, I know you love Victoria’s Secret, And lovin’ all the marvelous slang on how I freak it”
